Shari DeLorian / Alice Bachmann - INESSERE (Live at Avantgardening 2020) ( SR222 )

Type: A/V
Location: Italy/France
Date: 22nd June, 2020
Section: Glad to Be Still Alive

April 2020.
The multidisciplinary platform Avantgardening commissioned to sound artist Shari DeLorian a music project to be performed at the first online edition of the festival. This become soon an a/v project in collaboration with French video artist Alice Bachmann.

This is the recording of the performance, called INESSERE, which has been performed on 19th April 2020.

Inessere is an audio/visual portrait of a place created by human beings, a place where you can’t and can be at the same time: a paradox of absence and presence. A world on a human scale, but deprived of its humanity; the spacial acoustics as the proof of its absence.

INESSERE

Spettro Records 10th Year Anniversary Compilation SR220

Type: mp3
Location: Italy, USA, Canada, Japan, Portugal, Greece, UK
Date: 13th May, 2020
Tracks: 36
Section: Glad to Be Still Alive

It's been 10 full years since May 13th 2010, when Spettro was first launched with a live concert by our late friend and pioneer Z'EV together Stefano Pilia, and Salomè Lego Playset opening, at the now defunct and very much missed Xm24 squat in Bologna, Italy (the live recording was released here).

Spettro has always been active online and offline ever since with over 200 free releases and live shows from artists coming from Italy, USA, Canada, Japan, France, Greece, Indonesia, Turkey, Mexico, Spain, Finland, Luxembourg, Argentina, Sweden, Holland, Portugal and more.

10 years is a long time, and the fact that we're still at it might be both positive and sad.

Haven't you outgrown it you might ask?

Things have changed a lot in the meantime, sure, but Spettro has not given up on the idea of open and free culture and sharing, especially in times of streaming, astroturfing, sponsored content and constant crisis.
Spettro has also brought artists from all over the world together, enabling collaborations and new music and sometimes friendships, and has evolved in an actual brick and mortar venue, Ikigai Room, which at this time is sadly closed due to the Covid-19 emergency but which we hope will be soon back on track.

Spettro, and the world of netlabels, still has a lot to say, and won't be giving up any time soon, at least not before releasing this massive compilation featuring some musicians who have been with Spettro since day 1.

Recorded in Sasso Marconi, Bologna, at John Duncan's residence, “A Maze Sing Wave” is Z'EV's latest work, especially composed for Spettro records.

It's needless to say what an honour it is to host Z'EV on Spettro, an artist I so much admire and that has so strongly made Spettro Records' history. It was him who played for Spettro's opening concert back in 2010, and it his him who will continue forging its destiny and giving us strength.

This album was printed as a collectors item in 2008 with only 100 copies made. It is by request of the artist that this 2012 remastered version be shared for free, in hopes of instigating more hardcore gayngsta rap, and as a memorial to MC Bowel Shuvel.

19 May, 2012. Bologna. Homework Festival. Among tons of pseudo-electronic dance music, 10 static noise makers get together under the aphasic conductor Dj Balli to make the most un-danceable music ever heard. A disastrous orchestra of static noise, under the hypnotic images of Sun Ra's Space is The Place , instigating a cacophony of catastrophic proportions upon the innocent fun-prone audience. 2 performances were held that night, one under Balli's strict observance, the under under riotous spirits of alcohol and drugs. That same night, the first earthquake in years struck Emilia Romagna.
This short track is all that's left of that fluttering night.

The brutality and ugliness of metal. The minimal beauty of ambient electronic music. It occurred to me that these two seemingly disparate styles compliment each other so well. This is the kind of music I wanted to be making. Something along the lines of JESU. But I wanted the heavy element to be slower, uglier, and more hypnotic . I wanted the ambience lifted right off of a BRIAN ENO album. Or STARS OF THE LID. Fuck it. But I went with the BUDDHA MACHINE. It sounded perfect. The songs were tracked and assembled by PHILIP SHAW BOVA at Bovasound Studios in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Then they were off to New Jersey, where JAMES PLOTKIN did an immaculate job with the mastering.
Nine songs split into two EPs. The first EP is called “ORANGE”. The second EP is called “GREEN/BLACK”. Both EPs are sold together as a double-cassette release. Available for purchase from DWYER RECORDS and for digital download from Bandcamp.

this work means to leave a memory of this experiment which will hopefully see a second season!

Here is the much awaited anniversary compilation by Spettro that nobody was waiting for. Merry Christmas then.
When Brusio Netlabel offered us to share compilations we got on this chance immediately, but anyway ended up late. It hasn't even been a year since we started Spettro, but we believe that the quantity of things we have released is sufficient enough to compile this archive of things, of things past and of things future, to make order in our minds, and to try giving a chance to all of those who haven't heard our voices. This compilation voices our lives, in the hope that they will be fruitful and long, and knowing that no matter how long they will survive, it has been and will be meaningful, to us, and hopefully to others. Many things seem to conjure against us, mainly, money, which is not too distant from existence itself. Anyway, this compilation wishes to thank everyone who supported us and that will in the future.
The only thing we can be certain about, is that everything we have supported has been and always will be a pure manifestation of life, of wills untouched. Our thanks go to the artists, and to Martina Merlini especially, the author of this wonderful artwork. Please, enjoy!
